Brazils mauricioj100 Stages Impressive Comeback to Become an XL Autumn Champion

The XL Autumn Series has exploded into action at 888poker, with six of 29 scheduled events crowning their worthy champions. Anyone who comes out on top in a large-field multi-table tournament deserves plaudits, especially so when they come back from being the third-shortest stack at the final table to win.

The Opening Event Sale Mystery Bounty only cost $55 to enter yet guaranteed $100,000 in its prize pool. A total of 1,822 entries were processed, and that field was cut to the final table of eight on Day 1. Before the final table was reached, Lithuania’s “skacas” opened a golden mystery bounty envelope containing a cool $10,000. They ultimately fell in 25th place, yet still took home more prize money than any other player.

XL Autumn #03 – Opening Event Sale (Mystery Bounty) Final Table Chip Counts

Rank Player Country Chips Big Blinds
1 BrownBrit United Kingdom 9,350,911 94
2 DiosTeAma Costa Rica 6,112,348 61
3 c0rbl1meyguv United Kingdom 2,793,304 28
4 NotUrFriend Finland 2,256,449 23
5 DIMOSREG Belarus 1,849,958 19
6 mauricioj100 Brazil 1,766,986 18
7 callmuck77 Malta 1,677,268 17
8 Yinghill Germany 1,522,776 15

The United Kingdom’s “BrownBrit” held a commanding lead going into the final table, their 94 big blind stack eclipsing all others. Four players sat down behind sub-20 big blind stacks, including “mauricioj100” who entered the fray with only 18 big blinds at their disposal.

888poker final tables are known to be fast-paced, and this one was no different; it was over in less than two hours despite it taking more than 30 minutes to lose the first player.

Belarus’ “DIMOSREG” crashed out during a three-way all-in. They open-shoved for just under 710,000 chips with ace-four during the 60,000/120,000 level. “DiosTeAma” called in the next seat along with pocket sevens, only for “callmuck77” to jam for 1,168,032 from the big blind with pocket queens. “DiosTeAma” called the extra chips and watched on as the pot slid to “callmuck77” courtesy of them flopping a full house.

Although winning that pot put “callmuck77” third in chips, they were the next to be relieved of their stack. First, they three-bet shoved from the small blind for 17 big blinds effective with ace-king of spades and lost to the initial raiser’s ace-jack, leaving them with four big blinds. That micro stack went into the middle with ace-five and lost to the ace-queen of “DiosTeAma.”

A couple of hands later, Finland’s “NotUrFriend” lost a coinflip with ace-queen of spades against the pocket tens of “c0rbl1meyguv” and was left with a single big blind. There was no spin-up for “NotUrFriend,” and the final table was down to five players.

“mauricioj100” was gifted the chip lead in a clash with “BrownBrit,” who made an ill-timed shove on a four-three-three-jack board with nothing but ace-high while “mauricioj100” had flopped trip fours.

The final five became four, with “Yunghill” making their way to the exits. They got a little too enthusiastic while representing a heart flush and shoved on the river, only for “DiosTeAma” to make a runner-runner straight.

Over $300,000 in Prizes Await in the 888poker Circus of Cards

“mauricioj100” soared into a massive chip lead after sending “DiosTeAma” to the showers. “brownBrit” min-raised to 500,000 with king-six of hearts from under the gun. Next to act, “DiosTeAma” flat-called with pocket nines, only for “mauricioj100” to squeeze to 1,625,000 from the big blind with pocket aces. Understandably, “BrownBrit” ducked out of the way, but “DiosTeAma” opted to move all-in for 6,522,140, a bet that “mauricioj100” snapped off. The aces held, and “mauricioj100” saw their stack swell to over 20.3 million, with their nearest rival on 4.3 million.

“c0rbl1meyguv” became “mauricioj100”’s next victim when they got their chips into the middle of the felt with ace-jack against the runaway chip leader’s pocket sevens. The all-in player flopped a jack, but the hot-running “mauricioj100” improved to an unlikely diamond flush and took a 23,742,310 to 3,587,690 chip lead into the heads-up battle against “BrownBrit.”

“BrownBrit” fought valiantly, but a seven-to-one chip disadvantage proved too much to bridge. Their cause wasn’t helped when they turned fourth pair into a bluff with a 1.5-times pot all-in bluff, only for “mauricioj100” to look them up with third pair on a scary board.
