Roman Hrabec Continues Career Year With Super High Roller Series Victory in Cyprus
The Super High Roller Series is in full swing at Merit Royal Diamond Hotel and Spa and two winners have already been crowned on the sunny shores of North Cyprus.
The renowned series, a collaboration between PokerGO and the Onyx Club at Merit Royal Cyprus, runs Aug. 17-25 and will culminate with a $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Main Event that gets underway on Aug. 21. To follow the action, tune into PokerGO.
Hrabec Continues to Dominate
The Czech Republic’s Roman Hrabec kicked things off by winning Event #1: $25,750 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Max for $316,000, just the latest high-stakes victory for the former hockey professional.
Earlier this year, Hrabec shipped the Triton Poker Jeju $100,000 Main Event for a career-best $4.3 million before winning his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet this summer in an online event that brought him $100,228.
Continuing his hot streak, Hrabec topped a field of 39 players and a final table that included high-roller regulars Sam Greenwood (5th - $83,000) and Leonard Maue (4th - $116,500), as well as two players on hot streaks of their own.
Third-place finisher Kayhan Mokricatapulted to the highest stakes last year and notably pulled more than $300,000 in bounties at a single poker stop, while runner-up Santhosh Suvarna is fresh off a career victory in the WSOP $250,000 Super High Roller for $5.4 million.

Quan Zou Wins Event #2
The next winner in Cyprus was China’s Quan Zhou, who took down Event #2: $25,750 No-Limit Hold’em 7-Max for $316,000 and his first PokerGO Tour (PGT) title.
Like with Hracbec, the victory gave Zhou his third victory of 2024. In March he took down a WPT Korea 2-7 Single Draw vent for $3,605 and went on to win a Triton Poker Super High Roller $25,000 event the same month for $530,000.
England’s Lewis Spencer finished runner-up for $220,000, while fellow Brit Ben Heath finished fourth for $116,500. The final table also included Ren Lin (3rd - $158,000) and Jeremy Ausmus (6th - $62,000), yet another player who is continuing a fantastic year.
Earlier this summer, Ausmus tied Phil Hellmuth’s WSOP record by making seven final tables.

The latest tournament on the SHR Series schedule is Event #3: $25,750 No-Limit Hold’em (6-Max), which saw Ren Lin reaching back-to-back final tables alongside the likes of Canada’s Daniel Dvoress, Bulgaria’s Yulian Bogdanov and Spain’s Adrian Mateos.
