Four Players Stand Between Online Poker Legend Isildur and His First WSOP Bracelet
Table Of Contents
The “Summer of Isildur” continues as Viktor Blom has reached his fourth final table at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), and he could be just hours away from winning his first bracelet.
Event #44: $10,000 Big O Championship played down to five before concluding Monday’s Day 3 session. Christopher Demaci busted in sixth place ($131,841), leaving only a handful of players left to battle for the $784,353 first-place prize and the gold bracelet.
One of those bracelet hopefuls is Blom, known during the poker boom era as “Isildur1,” his legendary online poker moniker. The Swedish poker star will have tough competition on Tuesday when Day 4 begins, facing two opponents who’ve won multiple bracelets — Marco Johnson and Phil Hui — and two other skilled tournament players (Shawn Rice and Veerachai Vongxaiburana).
Wouldn’t Be His First Live Poker Tournament Win
Blom, known more as a high-stakes online cash game grinder, will return to the Horseshoe at 1 p.m. PT second in chips with 5,095,000. Johnson has a slight advantage at 5,950,000. But the top two stacks aren’t far ahead of the three others at what should be a competitive final table.
2025 WSOP $10k Big O Chip Counts
Place | Player | Stack |
---|---|---|
1 | Marco Johnson | 5,950,000 |
2 | Viktor Blom | 5,095,000 |
3 | Veerachai Vongxaiburana | 4,910,000 |
4 | Shawn Rice | 4,865,000 |
5 | Phil Hui | 3,400,000 |
Blom hasn’t won a bracelet, but he does have two live tournament wins and $6.6 million in tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. He won a $100,000 Super High Roller at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) in the Bahamas for $1,254,400, and a €5,300 partypoker Tour Live event for €850,000 in 2018.
“Isildur’s” focus hasn’t been on tournaments throughout his poker career. But he’s been grinding away at WSOP events the past couple of years. Blom needs just three more final table appearances this summer to tie the record held by Jeremy Ausmus and Phil Hellmuth with seven in a single WSOP series.
But all eyes for the 2000s Full Tilt Poker legend on Tuesday will be on winning his first bracelet. If he wins it, “Isildur” might become the frontrunner for WSOP Player of the Year. At the very least, he’ll give Benny Glaser and Scott Bohlman, currently the POY leaders, reason to sweat.
