Angela Jordison Earns Career-High Score After Taking Down MPST East Chicago
This past weekend, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) was at Ameristar East Chicago for an $1,100 Main Event, a tournament that attracted 861 entries and was won by well-known poker grinder Angela Jordison, who took down a career-high $161,513 prize.
The win surpassed her previous high of $151,544 for finishing third in the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #18: $1,000 NLH Freezeout.
“This has just really been on my bucket list,” Jordison told MSPT officials after the win. “I love this tour, I love the price point, I love the staff, I love everything about it. Every year on January 1st I write down ‘Win an MSPT’.”
The victory marked Jordison’s first MSPT title after four final table appearances (she finished fifth all the other times).

According to updates from the event, Jordison began heads-up play with a more than 2:1 chip lead and it didn’t take long for her to close it out. It happened after her heads-up opponent, Miguel Martinez moved all in with pocket tens and Jordison called with ace-seven of clubs. Two clubs on the flop delivered Jordison a flush draw, and a third on the turn gave it to her to send Miguel home in second place for $99,395.
It was the latest poker accomplishment for Jordison, who back in 2023 was a star at the 4th Annual Global Poker Awards where she narrowly missed out on GPI Female Player of the Year to Cherish Andrews bit was crowned Breakout Player of the Year for a year in which she cashed for nearly $600,000 in live tournaments.
For Jordison, she attributed her success thanks to JakaCoaching.com, a partner of PokerNews.
“Faraz Jaka has been a great resource for me, I’ve been with the site since its inception, I have put a lot of time in on it. I was on a downswing for 6-9 months, so the only way I felt I could control things was to study more. So, I did that, and things have worked out!”
Because she went so deep, Jordison actually missed her original return flight, but she was obviously happy to do so.
“I came into Midwest poker three years ago and I didn’t know anyone. Now this Midwest community has become my family and they make me better because so many of them are so good.”
The MSPT will now head to Las Vegas for a $1,100 Main Event at The Venetian from Sept. 5-8, and while the tour has been to the property many times before, it’ll mark the first MSPT in the Venetian’s new poker room.
