Simon Mattsson Triumphs in the PokerStars $1050 WCOOP Boot Camp Main Event
The $1,050 buy-in WCOOP Boot Camp Main Event drew in 502 entrants to PokerStars, and Sweden’s Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson outlasted them all. Mattsson added $76,031 to his online poker tournament lifetime winnings of over $35 million after coming out on top of the star-studded field.
The $1,050 Main Event’s 502-strong field was cut to only 38 on Day 1, with the surviving players returning to the battlefield on August 19. Start of Day 2 chip leader Tom “hitthehole” Middleton couldn’t build on his opening day success, falling in 26th place for $3,495.
Others who fell before the nine-handed final table included Daan “DaanOss” Mulders, Peter “Belabacsi” Traply, Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich, and Team PokerStars’ Lex “L. Veldhuis” Veldhuis.
Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert came unstuck one place after Veldhuis in 13th, with Germany’s “Sintoras” popping the final table bubble.

Mongolia’s “$ubuta1” was the first finalist to fall by the wayside; their ninth-place finish came with $5,629 in prize money. Flying Finn Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden joined the ever-growing list of casualties in eighth before “Dangerzinn” of Brazil collected the first five figure haul of the event, $10,188 and a seventh-place finish.
The final six became five when British star Daniel “19Dan86” Rudd busted and scooped $14,242, and then four after the untimely demise of Poland’s “PAX176,” who added $19,909 to their bankroll.
Bruno “great dant” Volkmann’s quest to win this tournament ended in a fourth-place finish worth $27,832, before “MjLK MAN” of Hungary bowed out in third for $38,907, sending the tournament into the heads-up phase.
Mattsson locked horns and butted heads with Ukraine’s “Ramses9977” and ultimately defeated his final opponent, clinching the title of champion and $76,031. The runner-up headed into the night with $54,389 to show for their efforts.
“djhowzy” and “monaay bags” Chop the $109 WCOOP Boot Camp Main Event
A huge turnout of 10,572 entrants resulted in a $1,057,200 prize pool in the $109 edition of the WCOOP Boot Camp Main Event. The tournament ended in a heads-up chop that saw the final two players walk away with a combined $206,752.
All but one of the nine finalists won at least $10,000 for their $109 buy-in. “crazyrabbi9” of Ukraine was the only odd one out, although the $8,500 they collected for their ninth-place finish is still a respectable payout.
“oginge” of Germany, Brazil’s “slmzrj,” and Austrian “Lordof0512” were the next players relieved of their stacks, the latter seeing $22,964 land in their PokerStars account.
The pay jumps were significant, especially for a $109 buy-in affair, so it was unsurprising that the heads-up duo struck a deal after “luckyfluke, “HappyBustDay,” and “Foldemorte13” were sent to the rail.
The different between the original first and second-place payouts was almost $34,000, or over 300 buy-ins! First should have paid $120,348 with the runner-up securing $86,404. However, “djhowzy” and “monaay bags” agreed to a deal that ultimately saw the latter finish in second place and bank $107,282 and djhowzy claim the title and $99,470.
