Phil Ivey Loses Three-Way All In for SHR Title to Adrian Mateos Still Wins Biggest Prize
Adrian Mateos added to his 2024 GPI Player of the Year lead on Thursday by taking down Super High Roller Series Cyprus Event #6: $25,750 No-Limit Hold’em Mystery Bounty for $162,000, and another $165,000 in bounties.
The Spanish poker legend wasn’t the biggest winner in the tournament, however. Phil Ivey, who ended up in second place following a three-way all in to finish off the tournament, won $413,000 total thanks to the $300,000 worth of mystery bounties he collected.
Tournament Ends in Three-Way All In
The final table in the 40-entrant tournament featured some familiar faces. Sorel Mizzi was first to go at the final table in sixth place ($32,000), and then Sam Greenwood busted in fifth place ($42,000). Seth Davies was eliminated in fourth place ($59,000), setting up three-handed play in the PokerGO Tour event in Cyprus.

Ivey had a significant lead when three-handed play began between the 11-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, Mateos, and Quan Zhou, who won Event #2. But that lead didn’t last as, per PokerGO Tour reporting, Mateos doubled up into the lead.
The tournament would come to its conclusion shortly after when Zhou shoved his 15-big blind stack from the button with Ax6x. Mateos three-bet all in with the biggest stack and Ax10x in the hole, and Ivey called it off with Kx4x. Ivey took the lead on the flop with a small pair, but Mateos flopped a flush draw, which he hit on the turn to close out the high roller event with no need to sweat the river.
Mateos booked his third top three finish in the Super High Roller Series through the first six events. He now has just under $50 million in lifetime live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob. And he has already locked up his biggest winning year of his career, in cashes, with over $10 million in total cashes.
Ivey, on the other hand, is also having a strong year in tournaments. The Poker Hall of Famer moved alone into second place all time with 11 WSOP bracelets this summer, and he’s right behind Mateos with over $46 million in career cashes. He scored the two biggest mystery bounties on Thursday — $200,000 and $100,000 — one of which was valued at more than Mateos received for the first place prize.
Masashi Oya (Event #4), and Maksim Vaskresenski (Event #5) also collected recent Super High Roller Series titles, joining Roman Hrabec (Event #1), Zhou (Event #2), and Maher Nouira (Event #3).
The Super High Roller Series runs through Aug. 24, and it includes the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl, which starts Aug. 22.
