Euro Poker Millions Exceeds Expectations & Breaks Records Kings Resort
Over the last two weeks, King’s Resort continued to play host as the home of European poker and welcomed the 2024 Euro Poker Millions (EPM) to its site. The tour, which boasted a €2 million guarantee for its €590 Main Event, journeyed to Rozvadov, Czechia, and thousands followed in search of big wins and unforgettable moments.
For the operator and the players, the festival was a huge success, with the Main Event drawing 6,237 entries. Those entry slips created a prize pool worth €3,199,581, making it the biggest prize pool for a tournament in Europe with a buy-in under €1,000.
Federico Brunato, Director of Poker for King’s Resort, was grateful for the turnout, stating, “We are really happy you decided to come to this tournament and not to be with your family on some beach. Without you, this would not have been possible to make this historic event, not only in Euro poker but in world poker.”
Poker Appears to be a Natural Fit for Esports Whizz
And just who came out on top in this record-breaking event?
Following a three-way deal, where some money was left up top along with the title, Jakub Skurzynski sealed the win after overcoming Julien Combier and Nicolae Mihai to have his hand raised as the victor. In addition to the €404,704 payout, Skurzynski also picked up a ticket to the €10,350 Main Event for the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe, which takes place in September.
Skurzynski, also known as Kuba Skurzynski, is a notable figure in both the game design and esports communities. As a game designer, he has gained recognition for creating tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) that are deeply rooted in Polish folklore. His notable works include “Corny Groń,” a solo RPG set in the Polish Carpathian Mountains, and its sequel, “Beyond Corny Groń: Adventurer’s Guide.”
In addition to his achievements in game design, Skurzynski is also a prominent esports professional known by his gamer tag “Jactroll.” He hails from Poland and has played as a support for several competitive League of Legends teams, including Team Vitality.Bee and Papara SuperMassive.
The newly crowned champion calls poker one of his hobbies, and along with his natural competitive spirit, this massive score could pave the way for a deeper dive into poker for the gamer.
“It’s indescribable,” Skurzynski told tournament reporters, “I think I gave my best right at the final table, and I am very happy with how I managed the situation.”
“Now I don’t know what will happen, whether I will focus more on poker for a while or decide to invest in e-sports. It’s all still so hard to believe!”
