Nestled within The Star Gold Coast poker room, this anticipated series, unfolding from September 14 to 27, boasts 16 dynamic tournaments. The marquee $8,000 WPT Main Event, slated from September 22 to 27, remains a focal attraction.

So far, the series has crowned New Zealand’s JP Rounce-Sue as the winner of Event #1: $1,500 Opening Event. Rounce-Sue beat 615 opponents to grab a personal-best $156,413 and a WPT Passport worth $6,000. Following closely, Australia’s Daniel Hachem finished as the runner-up, taking home $109,913.

However, the spotlight in Event #3: $5K 8-Max Action Clock was on Raphael Tenenbaum (cover left). Making significant strides, Tenenbaum clinched his maiden live tournament victory and a career-best prize of $116,424. Before this impressive win, Tenenbaum’s recorded live winnings stood at $57,584, a figure which he more than doubled with this win, as per data from Hendon Mob.

This event saw 84 entrants, each staking $5,000, but only a select 11 achieved monetary recognition.

India’s poker star Ankit Ahuja (cover right) continues to dazzle on the global stage. In the same event, he came tantalizingly close to securing his maiden WPT title, ultimately settling for second place and a prize of $77,618. 2023 has been a milestone year for Ahuja, with this being his 30th live score and his second-most substantial win.

Ankit AhujaAnkit AhujaThis success follows his fifth-place finish at theESPT Main Event last month, worth$193,412. The2022 GPI India POY, Ahuja, who is currently ranked 4th on India’s all-time money list, now boasts an impressive $1,838,605 in live tournament earnings, as per Hendon Mob.

The decisive moment came just after 4 PM (local time) when both Tenenbaum and Ahuja decided to go all-in on the flop . Ahuja was ahead, holding for a top pair, while Tenenbaum had for a flush draw along with a bottom pair.

With bated breath, spectators watched as the appeared on the turn. This secured a flush for Tenenbaum, though Ahuja still had an outside chance should another heart on the river get him the better flush. However, it was not to be as the river revealed a , and Tenenbaum was crowned the victor, marking his inaugural WPT victory.
