Biography Ben “Spraggy” Spragg is a British poker player and PokerStars Ambassador. After graduating in 2012, he started playing poker and streaming on the internet. Spragg started as a cash game player, but after grinding those tables he moved over to tournament poker. He first joined PokerStars as a member of Team Online in 2017. Over the course of his career he has won numerous online titles, including World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) titles in 2020 and 2021. “As a streamer, poker events like the WCOOP are to be enjoyed, so my aim is always to put on the best show,” he told PokerNews in 2020. “Of course, that means deep runs and winning as much money as possible because, ultimately, thats what people want to see!” Is This The Worst (but Funniest) Bad Beat of All Time? In September 2023, Spragg entered the 1,100 PokerStars UKIPT Brighton Main Event alongside 351 opponents. After three intense days of high-octane poker action, Spragg found himself at the six-handed final table and with a chance to secure the first major live poker victory of his career. Spragg was fifth in chips at the start of play, but an early double-up through Sebastian Gohr with pocket aces moved Spragg towards the top of the chip counts. Spragg eliminated Gohr in sixth place to further enhance his chances of his breakout win. Eventually, Spragg navigated his way to the heads-up part of the Main Event, where he faced Germany’s a href=“https://www.pokernews.com/poker-players/dominik-nitsche/">Dominik Nitsche, a supremely talented individual with four WSOP bracelets to his name. Nitsche clawed his way level but a failed bluff all but eliminated him from the tournament, and Spragg sent Nitsche to the showers on hand later. Spragg took home a career-best live score of 69,120 ($86,259) for his victory, plus his first UKIPT title, making amends for his near miss (sixth place) in the 2013 UKIPT Dublin Main Event.
