Ukrainian Denies Brit an Epic Comeback in the 888poker $100K Mystery Bounty

It took less than 90 minutes from the first cards being dealt to the champion being crowned at this week’s $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event final table. Eight players from a field of 945 returned to 888poker on Tuesday to conclude the tournament, and it was Ukraine’s “PasHTeT25” who survived the madness and became a poker champion.
All the big mystery bounties had been claimed before the final table was set. Germany’s “420Eben” helped themselves to $3,746 in mystery bounties, which included one worth $3,000. Brazilian “zipperb” banked a $1,000 and a $3,000 scalp on their way to the final table.
However, the United Kingdom’s “evey15baird” pulled $11,140 in mystery bounties, including the $10,000 jackpot, before falling in 27th place.

2 | PasHTeT25 | Ukraine | 2,595,865 | 37 |
3 | Love2win23 | Lithuania | 2,160,562 | 31 |

5 | zipperb | Brazil | 1,406,126 | 20 |
6 | Antrage | Mexico | 1,291,260 | 18 |
7 | Lassehh | Denmark | 1,260,975 | 18 |
8 | bluffing420s | United Kingdom | 557,162 | 8 |
The average stack at the start of the final table was only 25 big blinds, so it was obvious that this final table could be over in record quick time.
Denmark’s “Lassehh” was the first finalist to bust, doing so around 15 minutes into proceedings. Mexico’s “Antrage” lost with king-jack to “bluffing420s” nine-eight in a battle of the blinds to reduce the player count by one, before “Stanimal14” ran out of steam in sixth on the half-hour mark; their ace-jack lost a coinflip to the pocket tens of “jsj588.” “Stanimal14” finished seventh in this tournament last weekend.
The players continued falling at a rapid pace. “zipperb” committed their last 12 big blinds with king-ten from the big blind after “PasHTeT25” jammed from the small blind with jack-eight of spades. An eight on the turn continued the trend of the short stacks running horribly.
“jsj588” was the next to bust, finding themselves all-in with king-queen for nine big blinds and needing to connect with the board to best the ace-ten in “PasHTeT25”’s hand. That didn’t happen, and the Mystery Bounty Main Event was down to only three players.
Those three became two with the unfortunate exit of Lithuania’s “Love2win23.” Down to 4.3 big blinds, “Love2win23” must have thought that all their Christmases had come at once when they looked down at ace-queen of spades. They moved all-in, only to discover the hot-running “PasHTeT25” had been dealt the dominating ace-king, which held, to send the tournament into heads-up.
“PasHTeT25” held a substantial 73.6 to 27.7 big blind lead over “bluffing420s,” who had sat down at the final table as the shortest stack, with only eight big blinds. Was an incredible comeback on the cards? It looked likely when “bluffing420s” won the first few hands to close the gap on the leader. They then claimed the chip lead for themselves.
Neither player could shake off the other, which prompted them to pause the tournament clock and discuss a deal. Those discussions proved fruitful, and play resumed with a deal in place. That deal saw approximately $700 shaved off first place and awarded to the runner-up.
Not having to worry about a $2,100 pay jump put both players at ease, and the final hand was not far away. “bluffing420s” committed their stack with king-nine on a six-five-king-five board only to discover “PasHTeT25” held jack-five for trip fives. A queen on the river completed the board and confirmed “blffing420s”’ demise.
