Michael Mizrachi could be just hours away from pulling off what many will likely consider the greatest accomplishment in poker history.
“The Grinder” enters Day 5 on Saturday as the chip leader in Event #66: $50,000 Poker Players Championship at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP). He’s among the seven remaining players out of the original 107 chasing the gold bracelet and the $1,331,322 first-place prize.
Mizrachi could win his seventh bracelet, something only 12 others have accomplished. But there’s more at stake for the poker legend who wasn’t even nominated as a Poker Hall of Fame finalist this year.
Poker History to Be Made?
The Mizrachi family owns 11 World Series of Poker bracelets — six from Michael and five from Robert Mizrachi, while Eric Mizrachi has two WSOP final table appearances. No other sibling combination has more bracelets.
Mizrachi has won the Poker Players Championship three times — 2010, 2012, and 2018 — and no poker player has ever won the same major tournament four times. The Grinder has nearly $18 million in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob, which includes two World Poker Tour (WPT) titles.
Mizrachi will enter what could be the final day, depending on how late it goes, with nearly a 2-1 chip lead over Andrew Yeh, who is in second place. Esther Taylor, sixth in chips, is attempting to become the first woman to win the Poker Players Championship, an event many consider to be the second most prestigious tournament in poker behind the WSOP Main Event.
Ben Lamb is the only player remaining with a super short stack. Bryn Kenney, third in chips, would inch closer to the $80 million mark in lifetime live tournament cashes, something no other player has accomplished. He currently has $77.3 million in earnings, nearly $10 million more than anyone else.
Mizrachi is in a position to not only become the first player ever to win the same major poker tournament four times, but to do it in one of the most prestigious events in the world. The 44-year-old Floridian was nominated last year for the Poker Hall of Fame, but wasn’t among the 10 finalists this summer. If he wins a fourth PPC and a seventh bracelet, he’ll be difficult to leave out next year.
