At the start of the Kings of Tallinn €150 Ladies Event, a major announcement was made: the dates for the third-ever Queens of Tallinn, an all-women’s poker festival that has quickly become a force in Northern Europe since its debut in 2023.
“It’s a beautiful get-together and social event.”
Queens of Tallinn is set to take place from August 21–24 at the Olympic Park Casino.
While only the dates have been officially confirmed so far, hints suggest that this will be the biggest edition yet. The Main Event, which will feature a guarantee, is expected to have a buy-in ranging from €350 to €555.
Industry veteran Teresa Nousianinen broke the news just before the Ladies Event kicked off, which already boasts over 80 entries and a prize pool exceeding €10,000.
FLIP Puts Out the Call to Action
Fantastic Ladies in Poker (FLIP), founded by professional poker player Daiva Byrne, is a group for the female poker community to discuss, plan and celebrate all things women in poker.
PokerNews caught up with Byrne, where she put out a call to action to attend the summer poker extravaganza.
“The Queens of Tallinn is amazing. We have the main event, lots of side events, and it is full of ladies from different locations having fun.”
“It’s a beautiful get-together and social event. So please come and join us, and I promise you, you won’t regret it.”
Byrne is in the mix in the Ladies Event and is joined by the likes of reigning Queens of Tallinn champion Saara Benlamine, Estonian pop star Teele Viira, and respected grinder Kristiana Stauere.
A History of the Queens of Tallinn
The inaugural Queens of Tallinn was held in the winter of 2023, where Marta Porta made history by topping the 65-entry field for a €6,167 ($6,741) payday. Porta also secured another trophy after triumphing in the €60 NLH/PLO mixed event. In total, the first edition paid out €37,507 across seven events.
The festival saw even greater success the following year, with €38,806 awarded across the events. The Main Event saw increased participation, with 85 entries. Benlamine from Finland triumphed in a heads-up battle against Aušra Razmaitė, claiming the title of Queen of Tallinn and a €5,148 ($5,564) prize, along with the lasting legacy of being crowned the reigning queen.
