The Triton Super High Roller Poker Series has long been synonymous with high-stakes action, elite competition, and an unmatched player experience.

But even by Triton’s lofty standards, the turnout for its latest stop at Landing Casino in Jeju, South Korea has been staggering.

The attendance record was broken twice in two days, with Jeremy Ausmus defeating a 391-player $25,000 field early in the festival, and the $100,000 Main Event attracting a staggering 285 entries.

With field sizes soaring to new heights, it begs the question: why is Triton Jeju breaking records once again?

Triton “One-of-a-Kind” Experience says CEO

For Triton organizers, Jeju’s record-setting fields are proof of a larger trend. CEO Andy Wong sees it as part of the brand’s long-term expansion.

“These field sizes are a testament to how much the Triton brand has grown over the years, and proof that high-stakes poker is as alive as ever,” Wong says.

Success Breeds Success, say Players

For many players, the allure of massive prize pools combined with a mix of elite professionals and recreational players makes Triton an unmissable series. Norwegian pro Jon Kyte sees the snowball effect in action, and predicts even larger fields in the future as a result.

“In my opinion, success makes it grow,” he says. “So many people have seen the turnouts of Triton Jeju before and want to take part in it, myself included. Being able to win $1.1 million in a $15k event or $1.9 million in a $25k event with a mix of pros and businessmen is Triton’s key to success.”

Beyond the organization and prize pools, Jeju itself has established a reputation as a must-visit poker destination.

“Triton has strong connections with Asian players,” says Spanish high roller Adrian Mateos. “Last year was huge too, so people expected it to be big and came to play. Triton series are the best for me—I love the competition and playing for big money. It’s perfect! I enjoy it a lot!”

Triton regular and last year’s Player of the Year Danny Tang points to the series’ world-class execution and player experience as big draws.

“Triton is obviously doing a tremendous job with their productions and marketing,” he explains. “Every single poker player would love to come experience playing an event here, and Jeju was previously the record-breaking stop with more recreationals, so it’s no surprise to see more new faces this time around.”

That growing appeal is also evident to Ben Tollerene.

“I think the record-breaking field sizes we are seeing in Jeju show us that live tournament poker is healthy and experiencing new growth,” Tollerene says. “For me personally, it’s about seeing my friends and challenging myself at the highest stakes.”

American Chris Brewer echoes the sentiment, crediting the effort Triton puts into perfecting the player experience.

“It is awesome to see the Triton brand growing so fast. The staff puts more effort into the product than any other venue in the world, and the work shows with the recent turnouts.”
