PokerStars has announced its decision to withdraw from the Polish market later this month, citing a “reassessment of priorities”

In a statement, the site says the exit was not driven by any change to local regulations. Instead, the commercial decision is part of a programme to optimise PokerStars’ operations.

The online poker site is owned by Flutter Entertainment, the world’s largest sports betting and iGaming company. Flutter has long held plans to “transform” PokerStars, including strengthening its competitive advantage in regulated markets.

Another Market Departure

Last year, there was a flurry of departures as PokerStars exited Croatia, Peru, Poland, and the Czech Republic. This latest move is part of a broader strategy to “optimize operations and focus on key growth markets.” This involved a “comprehensive and ongoing review”, which decided that withdrawing from the Polish market would better support Flutter’s long-term strategic goals.

PokerStars expressed gratitude to its Polish player base and assured them of a smooth transition.
