Poker Pro Finds $35K Worth of Bitcoin in a Sock Drawer

Finding a $100 bill you’d forgotten about in your jeans pocket feels like winning the lottery. Kevin Martin, a reality TV star and poker player, came across a “sock drawer” full of Benjamins.

The GGPoker ambassador informed his X followers on Tuesday that he’d logged into StakeKings for the first time in “over a year” only to discover he had $2,400 in his account.

That was a pleasant surprise for the Big Brother Canada contestant. But it would turn out to be only a fraction of what one X user would help him discover.

How’d Poker Player Find the Money?

Kevin Martin GGPoker PokerMartin’s tweet drew some attention, but one person who commented was most helpful. An X user @Erius777 lent some valuable information to the Game of Gold contestant who appeared on PokerNews’ Life Outside Poker podcast to discuss his “heartbreaking” exit from the poker reality show.

“You might have an old wallet full of bitcoin,” the X user tweeted at Martin.

“K-Mart” saw the comment and did a little digging. He found out that the $2,400 treasure pales in comparison to the treasure his X follower would help him find.

“This dude’s message made me dig up an old crypto wallet in my sock drawer. I thought it had maybe 1k on it. It has 0.37 of a bitcoin,” Martin then tweeted.

One full Bitcoin is worth approximately $97,000, as of Wednesday, although the value has fluctuated between $95,000 and $108,000 in recent months. Martin’s “sock drawer,” 0.37 Bitcoin, is worth about $35,000, depending on the day.

Martin tweeted that he “sent the man a little tip,” referring to @Erius777 who gave him some valuable advice. The money will help offset some of his losses from a Royal Flush challenge he’s currently undertaking that has lasted over 70 days. He’ll owe one lucky follower thousands of dollars whenever it ends, and the longer it takes him to deal himself a Royal Flush, the more expensive it will get.
