A one-of-one Doyle Brunson autographed poker trading card sold on eBay last week for $1,603 at auction, making it one of the highest selling poker cards ever.

The five-day auction ended Jan. 29 after 41 bids were placed on the rare collector’s item. Twenty one unique bidders attempted to purchase the 2010 Razor Favorite Hand Auto signed by the late Poker Hall of Famer.

Brunson, a 10-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, passed away in 2023 at age 89. Memorabilia and sports cards of legends often see a spike in value after the individual passes away. Kobe Bryant’s card market, for example, briefly increased after the former NBA star was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in May 2021, a year following his tragic death.

Poker Legend’s Memorabilia isn’t Cheap

The 2010-printed Brunson card auctioned on eBay last week was sold by “dcsports87,” one of the biggest consignment sellers in the sports card industry. “Texas Dolly” hand printed his signature and his trademark 10-2, the hand he won the 1976 and 1977 WSOP Main Event with, on the card.

The collector’s item sold for an amount that is rare in poker card trading. There is only one other recent eBay sale of a 2010 Razor 1/1 auto, and that was a Shannon Elizabeth card that went for $232.50 at auction with 15 bids.

Poker trading cards don’t have the value of MLB, NFL, and NBA sports cards. A 1/1 of an all-time baseball great or top rookie, for example, often goes for thousands, sometimes even as much as $1 million. A chase for the coveted Paul Skenes Topps MLB Debut rookie patch auto 1/1 recently ended up being pulled by an 11-year-old kid. Many believe it will go for hundreds of thousands at auction. Skenes, entering his second year with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is one of the most talented young pitchers ever.

Poker pro and sports card hobbyist Jared Bleznick put a $1 million bounty on a LeBron James 1/1 triple logoman card in 2022, but was unsuccessful in acquiring the card.

Brunson’s card sold for pennies compared to that of a major sports star’s 1/1 auto. But the $1,603 sale price is unusually high when it comes to poker trading cards.

The card was sold raw, meaning it is ungraded. Graded cards, at least those that grade high on the 1-10 scale, are typically more valuable than raw cards.

The 2010 Razor Poker set featured 43 base autographs and about 100 other various types of signed cards that are rare, including dozens of 1/1 cards. Most of the top poker stars from that era were featured in the set, including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Howard Lederer, and Vanessa Rousso.

A Greg Raymer 1/1 printing plate auto from the set is currently up for sale on eBay for about $100, although the seller is accepting offers.

According to Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), the top sports card grading company in the US, there are few 1/1’s from the 2010 Razor Poker set they have graded. A Johnny Chan 1/1 that received a PSA 8 grade (Near Mint condition) is in someone’s possession, however.

PSA also lists a few sales from the set, which includes a PSA 10 (Gem Mint) Negreanu base auto going at auction for $53 and a Tom Dwan base auto graded a PSA 8 for $200.

Some recent sales from the set include a PSA 9 (Mint) Jerry Buss base auto for $120, and a handful of cheap raw autos going for around $10 of Ivan Demidov, Antonio Esfandiari, TJ Cloutier, and David Chiu.

Brunson’s memorabilia tends to sell for more than most other poker greats. That is due to his legendary status in the game, and the fact he’s considered one of the top and most respected poker players of all time.

Poker trading cards may not have the value of baseball, basketball, or football cards. But there are plenty of collectors out there willing to pay top dollar for cards such as the Brunson 1/1 auto that sold last week. There will be high interest from poker fans in the upcoming 2025 Leaf Metal Poker set that features Bleznick, Negreanu, Hellmuth, and many other top pros.

A box of the new cards costs $89.99 and features six autographs, including one multi-signed card.
