APAT Announces 2025 WCOAP Dates; Seeks International Team Captains
Table Of Contents
The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) has delighted recreational poker players everywhere by announcing the dates of the 2025 World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP). Known in the APAT community as “the worlds,” the WCOAP is a week-long festival featuring bankroll-friendly tournaments across various formats and variants. Players flock to the WCOAP in droves, hoping to become a world champion in the amateur realm and capture a WCOAP bracelet and one of APAT’s famous medals.
Although the 2025 WCOAP schedule is still being finalized, the dates and venue are set in stone. Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham will host the 2025 WCOAP between August 20-25, with the International Team Event kicking the festival off in style on the opening day.
The International Team Event is the only confirmed event so far because APAT is searching for team captains. Up to 23 countries will compete for the team title. At the time of writing, only England, Switzerland, and Wales have captains in place, meaning 20 spots are available. Teams are made up of four players, including the captain, and those players earn points for their team based on their finishing positions in the event.
Last year, 11 teams entered the fray. The Netherlands ran away with proceedings, accumulating 307 points, 54 more than second-placed Switzerland and 61 more than bronze medallists Wales.
If you want to become a team captain, you can check out the available teams on the APAT website or contact Tom Brady via the official APAT Facebook page.

Upcoming APAT Events
You do not have to wait until August to sample a taste of what APAT events offer. The long-running tour, now in its 18th season, heads to the Green Isle Hotel in Dublin in March, where a ā¬150 buy-in tournament makes up part of the Irish Poker Tour’s St. Patrick’s ā¬100K For ā¬100 festivities.
Then in May, APAT goes international and appears on the bustling Malta Poker Festival schedule. Its ā¬120 buy-in event runs from May 3-4.
Although yet to be confirmed, you should expect to see some sort of online poker promotion between APAT and Grosvenor Poker. The two poker giants have partnered up this year and have already given APAT players more than Ā£3,000 in added prizes via the APAT Winter Leaderboards. Watch this space.

How many decks are used in poker?
how many decks are used in poker?
In most popular poker variants, such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha, a standard deck of 52 playing cards is used. Each deck contains four suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades) and consists of 13 ranks (Ace, 2 through 10, and the face cards: Jack, Queen, and King).
However, it’s important to note that the number of decks used in poker can vary depending on the specific game or variation being played. For example, some poker tournaments or cash games may use multiple decks to speed up the gameplay or reduce the frequency of card shuffling. In such cases, it is common to use two or more decks that are shuffled together.
