Poker Vlogger Brad Owen Busts in Brutal Fashion in WPT RRPO Championship
Popular poker vlogger Brad Owen busted the 2024 World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open Championship at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in sickening fashion as he ran pockets kings into aces.
The “brutal cooler,” documented in the WPT live updates, took place on Day 2 inside of the money after starting the day short and battling back from under five big blinds. To make it even sicker, Owen’s opponent, Roman Korenev, flopped a set of aces as Owen turned a set of kings before failing to hit a miracle one-outer.
The WPT ambassador filmed his elimination in 119th place for $7,000. He also played a $100/$200 no-limit Hold’em cash game session at the South Florida property, so expect to see footage of both in an upcoming vlog.
PokerNewscaught up with Owen recently at the WPT bestbet Scramble Championship earlier this month, where he opened up about a serious health scare involving his 8-month-old son.
McKeehen & Song Among Chip Leaders Into Day 3
There were 485 players who returned for Day 2 and only 180 of them made the money.
The bubble burst with the eliminations of Nguyen Le and Jorge Aristizabal during Level 17, setting up for a rapid-fire run of eliminations that included WSOP Main Event champions Martin Jacobson (177th - $6,400) and Hossein Ensan (175th - $6,400), all-time Seminole Hard Rock title holder Raminder Singh (165th - $6,400), Jessica Dawley (122nd - $7,000) and Aaron Massey (117th - $7,000).
The day ended with Roman Korenev bagging the chip lead as one of only two players with more than 100 big blinds, the other being Iulian Blebea. Other big stacks include 2015 WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen and Stephen Song, who two years ago clinched the GPI Player of the Year distinction with a victory in the WPT Prime Championship for $712,650.
Also among those who still have chips is the 2022 GPI POY runner-upAdam Hendrix as the Alaska all-time money leader looks for his first WPT title after a third-place finish in the WPT Choctaw Championship earlier this year for $175,000.
The same is true for Jesse Lonis and Landon Tice, who respectively finished third in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship the same month for $410,000 and $550,000. The player who beat them, Josh Reichard, was eliminated on Day 2.
Other players who made it to the bagging time include six-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier, Jeremy Becker, Andrew Voor and Ren Lin.
Day 3 will pick up at noon local time on Dec. 2 with blinds of 15,000/25,000/25,000 with around 90 players remaining. Each returning player will be guaranteed a payday of at least $9,600, though all eyes are on the $662,200 up top for the eventual winner.
