Global Poker x PokerNews Cup Champ Ryan Smoot Wins GOAT VI Main Event

The Global Poker GOAT VI Main Event had a familiar champion in the Sweeps Coins (SC) tournament. A name Global Poker players are certainly becoming familiar with — Ryan “MrGoldenPair” Smoot.

You might be thinking to yourself, didn’t this same player just win a major event on the social poker site just weeks ago? And your instinct would be correct. Smoot took down the Global Poker x PokerNews Cup last month for SC 30,000, and he’s done it again as the GOAT VI series, which began July 15, has come to an end.

PokerNews ambassador and streamer Kyle Anderson wrapped up a huge series. He didn’t win any titles but took third place in four separate events.

That’s a Wrap

The sixth edition of the Global Poker GOAT series came to a conclusion on Monday. It was a successful series for the social poker site, which saw some skilled pros take down events, including Smoot and World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Ryan Laplante.

Laplante, a longtime pro and Learn Pro Poker coach and founder, took down Event #22, an SC 33 tournament for SC 3,096, winning his second Global Poker trophy.

On Sunday, eight final winners were crowned — four GC and four SC — which put a wrap to the three-week online poker series.
