WATCH: NFL Star Adrian Peterson Involved in Texas Poker Room Fistfight
Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson was involved in a fistfight during a May 27 poker game, according to a video obtained by TMZ. It appears that alcohol was involved.
Peterson, dubbed “All Day,” has run into multiple alcohol-related incidents recently. The former Minnesota Vikings star was pulled over under suspicion of and charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired in April, a misdemeanor.
He also appeared on the Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) in Las Vegas twice in May but didn’t cash.
Poker-Playing Athlete Gets into Fight
Peterson, who appeared on Hustler Casino Live in December 2024, squared up against an opponent at JokerStars, a card room in Houston, Texas. He took some punches, but also landed some haymakers against the unidentified opponent.
The video began with a staff member attempting to break up a dispute between Peterson and another player. Peterson continued charging at the opponent, and the two were left to throw down face-to-face. Multiple punches were thrown before the Vikings legend drove his opponent into a wall, and then landed a combo of punches.
Peterson told TMZ that he was involved in a dispute with another player at the poker table and “one thing led to another.” The former University of Oklahoma standout running back also told the tabloid outlet that alcohol was involved and the dispute has been settled.
“Me and the guy, we’re cool,” Peterson said. “We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows — and that was it.”
Police were not called to the card room, and JokerStars declined to ban either player.
Peterson played 15 years in the NFL, falling just shy of 15,000 yards rushing. He cracked 4,000 yards during his college career at Oklahoma and finished runner-up to USC’s Matt Leinart as a freshman in the 2004 Heisman Trophy voting.
But he’s had a bit of a checkered past off the field, including a recent DWI and a 2014 arrest for child abuse, allegations that forced the NFL to suspend the star for the second half of the season.
The NFL legend has been a regular at the poker table, mostly in Texas, since he retired from the NFL in 2021.
