The latest 888poker UK Poker League (UKPL) Main Event has crowned its champion, with Harry Sandford forever being known as the 2025 UKPL Edinburgh Main Event champion. Sandford came out on top of a 262-strong crowd in the £560 buy-in Main Event to take home £23,960 of the £124,440 prize pool.

Sandford’s prize represents the largest of his live poker career so far. At the turn of the year, Sandford finished fourth in the 888poker UKPL Portsmouth Main Event for £20,005, and this score beats that impressive sum.

Local player Tom Gill was the first of the nine finalists to fall by the wayside. Gill crashed out in ninth for £2,830. Glasgow’s Gary Armstrong, fresh from cashing in the $500 Colossus event at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), bowed out ineighth for £3,520 before Nathan Drummond ran out of steam in seventh, a finish good for £4,500.

Dean Sinclair took sixth place and £5,850, and Adam Buxton finished fifth for £7,700, multiplying his live poker earnings tenfold.

The final four players locked in a five-figure sum, with Haoran Dai collecting the first of those. Dai busted in fourth and banked £10,180, which, according to The Hendon Mob Database, is his first recorded live cash.

The 888poker UKPL Edinburgh Main Event progressed to the heads-up stage when Aaron Keenan ran out of steam. Before this event, Keenan had only €610 in live cashes. He now has a £13,450 score.

Harry Sandford and Charles “Chico” Lamont fought one-on-one for the title and the largest slice of the Main Event’s prize pool. Lamont fell at the final hurdle and collected a career-best £17,890, leaving Sandford to bank his biggest-ever prize, £23,960, and the winner’s trophy.
