Esther Taylor Makes History as Second Woman to Final Table $50K PPC

Esther Taylor has made history by becoming the second-ever woman to cash the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, after making the final table of one of the summer’s showpiece events.

The American, who has over $2.3 million in total live earnings, joins trailblazer Melissa Burr as the second female player to cash the event, eleven years on from Burr’s 7th-place finish in 2014 for $165,435.

Taylor, who has already locked up a minimum of $142,720 by making the final eight, enters the final table on the penultimate day of the event seventh in chips with 1,870,000. Only four-time WSOP winner Ben Yu returns shorter.

Taylor’s biggest career score to date came in the 2017 WSOP $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, where she finished third for $543,713. To top that mark, she would need a top-three finish once again, with third place in the Poker Players Championship set to pay $581,441. The event is scheduled to play down to six players on the evening of Friday, June 27.

The final table, which boasts a combined nineteen WSOP bracelets, features a number of standout names. All-time money leader Bryn Kenney, three-time Poker Players Championship winner Michael Mizrachi, and Portuguese star Joao Vieira are among those standing between Taylor, the Chip Reese Trophy, and the $1,331,322 first-place prize.

Mizrachi Chipleading as He Hunts Record 4th Win

It’s Michael Mizrachi leading the way at the moment as “The Grinder’s” love affair with poker’s ultimate mixed-game test continues.

Mizrachi, who is currently tied with 2023 Hall of Fame inductee Brian Rast on three wins apiece in this event, can put clear blue sky between himself and the seven-time WSOP champion should he be able to close out a fourth win.

Currently sitting on 7,705,000 chips, Mizrachi is being chased by Day 3 chip leader Andrew Yeh, with Kenney rounding out a star-studded top three.

The Poker Players Championship is scheduled to play down to six players tonight (subject to change), before the remaining finalists return to the Event Center at Horseshoe Las Vegas on Saturday to crown the latest winner of the iconic Chip Reese Trophy.
