Grosvenor UK Poker Open Returns for 2025 With a £1M Guaranteed Main Event
Table Of Contents
Poker tournament players were already delighted when they discovered that the Grosvenor UK Poker Open was returning in 2025, but their excitement reached fever pitch when they learned that the £1,500 Grosvenor UK Open Main Event’s prize pool carried a £1 million guarantee.
The 2025 Grosvenor UK Open festival runs from February 16 through March 2 at the Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry. The first five days focus on satellites to the Main Event, which have 30 seats guaranteed to be won, and satellites awarding Mystery Bounty and Mini UK Open seats.
February 21 sees the first “proper” 2025 UK Open events commence. However, players have February 26 circled on their calendars because that is when Day 1A of the £1 million guaranteed UK Open Main Event shuffles up and deals.
The 2025 UK Open Main Event features five starting flights, including two with turbo structures on Day 1D and Day 1E. Late registration ends at the start of Day 2 at 2:00 p.m. GMT on March 1, with the curtain coming down on proceedings after a 12:00 p.m. GMT start on March 2.
A Record-Breaking Payout in 2023
In 2023, the Grosvenor UK Poker Open drew in 1,086 entrants, who created a £1,407,400 prize pool that the top 100 finishers shared. Although dozens of elite-level pros were part of the bumper crowd, the tournament will best be remembered for the huge £325,190 top prize and how it was awarded.
After Christopher Yong busted in fourth place, the final trio of title hopefuls paused the tournament clock to discuss a deal to lessen the pay jumps. Trung “Man” Moc held a commanding chip lead over his two opponents, and made it abundantly clear he was happy to continue playing without a deal in place so he could wield his big stack; Moc had around 120 big blinds compared to the 14 big blind stacks of Majid Nadeem and Lukas Kuliesis.
Eventually, the trio agreed on a deal that saw Moc give up a mere £10,000 from the top prize, and the other two players equally chop second and third-place money. With the deal in place, Nadeem sent Kuliesis to the rail before Moc’s ace-nine remained true against Nadeem’s king-ten to conclude the massive 2023 UK Open Main Event.
Kuliesis and Nadeem collected £178,110 for the efforts, with Moc heading into the Coventry night having secured a £325,190 payout, the largest single haul in Grosvenor poker history.
Amazingly, Moc’s brother, Andy, won the tour’s previous biggest prize. In December 2021, Andy Moc triumphed in the £2,000 GUKPT Grand Final Main Event and received £265,350. Be careful if the Moc brothers are in Coventry for the 2025 UK Open because they know how to get the job done in major Grosvenor events.

What Happened at the 2024 Grosvenor UK Poker Open?
The 2024 Grosvenor UK Open ran in February and saw nine events crown worthy champions. Nicholas Marchington of 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Final Table fame triumphed in the £1,500 Main Event. Marchington received £146,560 after a three-way deal involving runner-up Tony Harman and third-place finisher Simon Higgins. Marchington banked the huge payout despite there not being a £1 million guarantee in place; the 620 entrants created an £803,520 prize pool.
Popular grinder Kevin Allen won £42,720 for his £2,000 High Roller victory, while an anonymous player turned £550 into £27,050 in the UK Cup. Expect similar, if not bigger, prizes in the 2025 editions of these mainstay tournaments.

How many decks are used in poker?
how many decks are used in poker?
In most popular poker variants, such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha, a standard deck of 52 playing cards is used. Each deck contains four suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades) and consists of 13 ranks (Ace, 2 through 10, and the face cards: Jack, Queen, and King).
However, it’s important to note that the number of decks used in poker can vary depending on the specific game or variation being played. For example, some poker tournaments or cash games may use multiple decks to speed up the gameplay or reduce the frequency of card shuffling. In such cases, it is common to use two or more decks that are shuffled together.
