Kimbo Ung From Las Vegas Leads Day 3 of WPT L. A. Poker Classic Online Poker News

OPN NewsDesk February 26, 2018 The 2018 WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 Championship that began on Saturday at the Commerce Casino drew as many as 475 entries during its first day, but only 282 of them could progress into Day 2.Leading the survivors was John Misirian, who grabbed the chip lead at some point on Day 1 and then went on to cement his position on the final hand of the day by eliminating Sean Winter. Misirian bagged up a stack of 234,300 chips to take the lead among 282 players moving into Day 2.880x150_OPN Header

The Day 2 of the mega event began on Sunday with 282 players coming together to battle it out for the title. The day finally closed with Kimbo Ung from Las Vegas grabbing the chip lead with 379,400.

Expressing his feelings, Ung said, “I’m the chip leader!”……. “I didn’t know that. I just gradually built, the same thing yesterday and today. I just keep chipping up. I’ve lost a few pots here and there. I lost a big pot at the end, I would have had 500,000 if I didn’t lose that pot”.

Ung currently holds over $126,486 in career live tournament earnings. The bulk of these earnings came from one victory in a 2010 Heartland Poker Event wherein Ung won the title for $125,901.

The interesting thing is that Ung made his way to this even through satellites. “I satellited into this thing, so nobody knows me in here,” …..“Everybody in here is a pro, and it’s amazing playing against those guys. I won the seat in an $1,100 buy-in satellite — the first shot, too.”, said Ung.

A total of the top 62 players will make it to the money in this event with $1 million going to the ultimate winner, and there are about 100 players remaining in the field now.

Close to Ung at the end of Day 2 was Chance Kornuth with 374,400, followed by Dennis Blieden with 370,500. The Day 1 chip leader John Misirian bagged up the 4th largest stack with 370,000.

Thirteen WPT Champions Club members moved into Day 3, with Season XVI WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic winner Ryan Tosoc leading them. Toss ended with a stack of 254,200. Mike Del Vecchio, the third-place finisher in the WPT Five Diamond event that Tosoc won, bagged 236,900.

Phil Hellmuth, a host of the WPT Raw Deal, bagged 173,300 in chips. Anthony Zinno, three-time WPT champion and the winner of the Season XIII WPT L.A. Poker Classic finished with 91,700 in chips.

Day 3 kicks off on Monday at Commerce Casino. Stay tuned in right here for the latest updates!
