The World Poker Tour is adding some high culture to its brand by bringing artist and designer Daniel Arsham on board to create signature trophies, chips, a new final table, and set.

Daniel ArshamArtist Daniel Arsham has been commissioned by the World Poker Tour to create trophies and sets. (Image: WPT)According to a press release, “Arsham’s contemporary art endeavors have spanned the mediums of drawing, film, architecture, sculptures, and more. He is represented by Perrotin and galleries around the world, including New York, Paris, Hong Kong, South Korea, Brazil, and the Netherlands, to name a few.”

Fancy.

“In the history of WPT, this may well be the most creative partnership we have ever taken on,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Daniel is an incredible artist that melds well with the contemporary lifestyle that poker fosters. We are honored to award a true work of art to all 2023 WPT Champions.”Arsham, 42, has been paid to make art for corporate giants like Tiffany, Adidas, Dior, Toraichi, Byredo, Rimowa, and Porsche. He’s even worked with Nintendo, making a Pokemon short for its YourTube channel. The WPT and Arsham will hold a charity tournament sometime this year to benefit The Cooper Union, a New York art school and Arsham’s alma mater.“It is exciting to explore and apply my artistic sensibility to the World Poker Tour universe,” said Arsham. “I studied at Cooper Union, and it formed a foundation for my art education. I’ve actively looked for ways to further Cooper’s mission of providing free education for everyone in the arts. I also relish the prospect of giving back to The Cooper Union through this project with WPT.”According to the WPT, “other artistic pieces to be created by Arsham as part of this relationship include a custom-designed chipset and a chip case design, and feature table stage designs for WPT events.

Each facet of the partnership provides a revamp to elements of the poker landscape and adds a modern touch to complement the progressive WPT culture.

The partnership between the World Poker Tour and Daniel Arsham represents a convergence of two distinct yet complementary worlds.

By infusing poker with Arsham’s contemporary art, the WPT not only enhances the visual experience for its participants but also supports the advancement of art education through charitable endeavors.

As Season XXI unfolds, players and enthusiasts alike can anticipate an immersive and creatively inspiring poker experience that transcends traditional boundaries.”

Not first artist in stable
